Well it’s been awhile eh…. This post is 2 weeks overdue..but what the hell...punctuality has never been my forte.Just didn’t feel inspired enough to blog anything of substance(err..when was that last) or otherwise(the norm)... The mind has been in laze mode for the most of the last couple of days, weeks, months…seems like a lifetime.. and it hasn’t actively seeked to conjure up thoughts or imaginative drivel that has potential to fill up this white space…(if I ever change the background colour.. my apologies to the clueless who might chance upon this post a few months or years from today and find that previous line baffling.)

I watched ;Corpse Bride' a while back. The movie isn’t the most brilliant piece of animated filmaking by any stretch. But it’s still splendid to behold. I’ll take this stop motion animation over CGI rendered corporate mass reproductions that have been served to us non stop by the bucketloads anyday..though admittedly CGI has come a long way and movies like the 'Incredibles' have proven that CGI can satisfy like traditional animation (though even that feels like eons ago) . I can’t say for sure if this is better than 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' since it’s one of the few Burton films I’ve never actually got down to watching…but I reckon not. What this film does though is to put to rest any concern one might have about Burton losing his magic after the disappointment that was 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory'(easily one of the worst movies I’ve had the displeasure of viewing this year at the theatres). Though Burton goes some way in redeeming himself in 'Corpse Bride'.. in my humble opinion ofcourse,… it remains to be seen if he can recapture the magnificence of 'Edward Scissorhands', or make anything as dark and forboding as 'Batman Returns'. I'll even settle for anything on par with the likes of 'Mars Attacks' and 'Sleepy Hollow'. 'Big fish' has been the best of his recent spate of duds. What these duds do confirm is that if there a kind of film burton isn’t cut out for, it is remaking classics. Most remakes are inferior to the original anyway. Hopefully Burton will think twice before he ends up remaking something like ‘Gone With The Wind’ or similar tripe. (yes,..i know that's a blasphemous thought)

On a side note, if Burton went on an acid trip while making his films, I imagine they would turn out a little like a David Lynch movie…. If Burton movies are supposed to be weird, whimsical and quirky, Lynch is way out there at the extreme end of the spectrum of everything that’s deranged, offbeat and offputting about filmmaking. If there is one director who has the capacity to leave his audience scratching their heads repeatedly, it has to be Lynch. The surrealist nightmarish images that have come to characterise his films are a trademark of artistic expression that can only be best described as ‘Lynchian’. To have a really good idea of what i’m talking about, get your hands on movies like 'Blue Velvet', 'Mulholland Drive', 'Lost Highway' and 'Wild At Heart'. If you reckon you can sit through these films unflinching, then you try your hand at the "Ultimate" Lynch film, Eraserhead, an almost “unwatchable” cult film. Ofcourse if these sort of movis are too weird or way out there for you,..there are couple of more "conventional " Lynch films like 'Elephant man' and the ironically titled ‘Straight Story’. I haven’t actually watched the 'Straight Story' myself, but it is highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike as a movie that fits the definition of pure filmmaking…whatever that means..

On a final note, it was nice to see the scouse twats get trounced in their own backyard…Demolished, crushed, humiliated, and I guess the most fitting description of it would be’ brought back down to earth’ from the delusional dizzy heights of grandeur built from one fluked champions league victory… haw haw! It was most satisfying for Manchester United fans especially, though a slight tinge of regret that such embarrassment should be inflicted at our expense with Chelsea gaining another 3 points…But what the heck…no true United fan would be too concerned about that…Chelsea could win an unprecedented quadruple, and it still won’t change anything…they are a joke. Not a tear will be shed just as no tears were shed when they strolled to premiership glory last season. With the millions spent, it will be laughable if their only achievement this season turns out to be retaining their league title. … As far as Liverpool are concerned,…they are 6 points below MIGHTY WIgan and we would rather see them down there than be up there challenging for the title,…fuckin twats..haw haw ! I can’t wait for them to get another stuffing at stamford bridge,…one could cream in one’s pants just fantasizing another humilation.
