Well,..it's been more than a week since my last entry. I reckon this is the longest break i have taken yet from blogging. I guess it gives me a sense of relief to know that i'm by no means addicted to mindless blogging...Can't say the same for certain individuals who figure their daily trip to the urinal is worth our interest or concern... I guess that just sums up the human capacity for self worship which is ridiculously limitless.
Dhino has had to endure some ego bashing recently on this site. I guess it's about time i gave him some credit for what is due. Last Tuesday, we watched
'The Motorcycle Diaries' on his recommendation,..and for once he was spot on. It's definitely a worthy excuse to burn $6.50. It's movies like this that strengthen my belief that hollywood films are largely mediocre in comparison to independant productions.'
The Motorcycle Diaries' is a spanish film that traces the journey undertaken by a young
'Che Guevera' across South America with his trusted friend, Alberto. Exquisite cinematography, visual flair, some great acting,...and the heartwarming bond of friendship shared by the 2 main charcters easily makes this one of the better movies of recent times. Once again Dhino,...i give you credit for this recommendation, though you did declare before the movie that you will not take any responsibility if it turned out to be crap, as it wasn't your idea to watch it(that's what you claimed). Haw Haw!
On Sunday, the 'Old guys' reunited once again to attempt to bring back the good old days at what was formally known as Bowen Secondary(now Mayflower campus 2). The Old Bowen guys turned up as well, and it was almost like the old days when we squared off against one another. Despite the obvious drop in football standards,we still had some rollicking good fun. As i crawled through the hole in the fence and walked towards the basketball court, for the first time in many years, i reminicised of the times past from the golden era, that provided some of the most unforgettable moments and experiences during my teenage years(tresspassing, making holes in fences using a wire cutter, the ' Vargese' team who will always turn up an hour later when everyone else are shagged to the bone and win all the remaining games playing 'league, trying to outsmart the patrolling policemen who never fail to turn up to spoil things for us, the occasional bust ups and fights, sitting at the coffesshop after football just talking cock and making jokes at the expense of the fat ice kachang lady). I would do anything to bring back those wonderful days. Those were times when weekend football at Bowen was what one would look most forward to(if not the only thing to look forward to). The times of the
'Spice Boys', the '
Vargese' team, the chinese
'Bonus team'(they were regarded as such cause they guaranteed easy victory),the Bowen guys in their Juventus jerseys, the '
Mats'(what is weekend football without
'Mats'),..are memories to be treasured. Hopefully,... this minor resurgence of weekend football(Sunday football actually..no one plays on Saturday anymore) will become more frequent and develop into a weekly affair again...But i guess that would be asking for too much! Oh and i forgot to mention that once again...some fuckin idiots in blue had to come and make a nuisance of themselves( Mugilan , if you're reading this,..i have nothing against you being a fuckin policeman..Haw Haw!). I guess some things will never change.
Middlesboro once again proved to be our bogey team,..as they got a deserved draw at Old Trafford. Rooney's lack of fitness was obvious as he struggled to come in terms with the Boro defence which was brilliantly marshalled by Southgate. Only the
Portugese Wonderboy shined for United. His heroics though were not sufficient for United to take all 3 points. But no worries,...United will be back on track next week when Alex Ferguson comes up against another manager previously associated with Mancehster United.Expect Birmingaham to be soundly beaten!
The exams are coming,..and .in less than 4 weeks,it will be that time of the year again,...and hopefully, i will do much better this semester. Last semester was an unprecedented disaster!
It was subha's birhday on monday. I think that's worth mentioning as a reminder to anyone who might know her and who had no idea about it.
